We have been now 16x since 2011, we just booked today for Memorial Day w/e at Iberostar Tucan and the Royal Hideaway for my birthday in September which is adults only and VERY upscale and MUCH big rooms (200 sq ft bigger).īut the charm of Tucan & Quetzel is the jungle atmosphere, hard to put a price tag on that and it still is our favorite place just b/c of that. That's just my wife & I but if you have kids too, God bless you with patience waiting.lol. I hate that myself, if I am ready to go don't want to wait an hour to just leave. You can also come and go when you want, if you have had enough that day & now you DON'T have to wait for the shuttle times.
#IBEROSTAR PARAISO MAYA HOTEL FREE#
If you want to go to the X-Caret or X-Plore you save TONS buying your OWN ticket there vs the packages the resorts have (if you have a family that will be well over $100-$200 US right there) and parking is free & only 25 minutes south off 307. See them BEFORE they are gone! Or see the restaurant that is in a cave the Alux (one of worlds top 10 coolest restaurants). Tulum Ruins and its charming downtown but another 45 minutes south on 307 as well as and to Coba about another 15 minutes from Tulum (the most steepest of the Ruins & you CAN climb that one, cant at climb Tulum or the big one at Chitza). We DO like to explore on our own (and YES very safe and modern is Play Del Carman) and seen most everything as far away as Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins 3 hours away. IF you DO rent a car, you will need to fill up just before the Airport on return, there is a Pemex (sp), about 1 mile from it on the right. If you plan on going shopping to 5th avenue in Downtown Play Del Carman (the shopping mecca of the area which is 2 miles long walking), and or thake the 45 minute boat ride to Cozumel (another must do, rent a scooter and go around the Island in less than an hour), Paraiso about 20 minutes more north of those areas, Tucan is 5.Ī cab ride from the Tucan resort to 5th ave is $10 now (used to be $5) for that 2 miles. Its hot so be in shape if walking it.ĥth Avenue you can spend HOURS there (and all the vendors say "ALMOST FREE.LOL") Paraiso is closer to the airport and right on 307 on the left.Īlso you can drive down to 5th avenue, parking is about a buck an hour for shopping (2 miles away from Tucan). Google directions as a back up of course. You will then take a right into a gated area for Playa Car. Its a short EASY drive down 307 and Playa Car is 45 minutes of drive time, Follow till you see a SAMS CLUB (for Tucan/Quetzel) on your left, make a u-turn at the light right after it. If you ad up a family of 4 via Cab or shuttle that adds up FAST. Google rentals out of Cancun airport, you can find cars for $1 a day to $5 which are not limos but OK cars. Most rental places are right next top one another, so just say I will go from say Dollar to Thrifty or Fox or Hertz. Negotiate the price too they move too, and do your research too Expedia coverage is worthless there. They used to but not in the last 6 years. Your basic car is PENNIES (literally) BUT they get you on the insurance which is mandatory and the do NOT accept coverage via your credit card or home based insurance. I am also sure it is nice, have yet to see a bad Iberostar and the service and help has been OUTSTANDING! We have not stayed at Paraiso which is closer to the Airport than Iberostar Tucan & Quetzel (both are on the same property in a gated community) Paraiso is right there on the left off 307. It would be Cheaper to rent a car and NOT be confined to a schedule either, especially if there are stops along the way and you are stressing for your flight.
